CPR Verification Station in Sunnyvale, CA

For healthcare professionals in Sunnyvale and the surrounding Silicon Valley area, maintaining essential life support skills is a non-negotiable part of the job. The demanding schedules of doctors, nurses, paramedics, and other medical personnel often make traditional, fixed-schedule training a logistical challenge. Safety Training Seminars is introducing a modern solution at our Sunnyvale office, located at 830 Stewart Dr #133, the American Heart Association’s® Self-Guided Learning™ course pathway, featuring the innovative CPR Verification Station™ learning center.

This new approach to Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) training offers the flexibility you need without compromising the quality of education. It combines personalized online learning with a local, independent skills verification session, allowing you to complete your training requirements on your own schedule.

A Flexible Training Model for Busy Professionals

The core of this new training model is flexibility. We understand that finding a full day for an instructor-led class can be difficult. The Self-Guided Learning option breaks the process into two manageable parts: an online cognitive portion and a hands-on skills session. This dual-component structure respects your time and expertise, allowing you to learn when and where it works best for you.

This is a significant shift from traditional classroom settings. Instead of conforming to a rigid class schedule, you control the timeline. The online coursework can be completed from your home or office, during a quiet shift, or whenever you can dedicate time. Once you finish the online part, you can schedule your hands-on skills session at our Sunnyvale CPR Verification Station center at a time that fits your busy calendar.

This “learn online, practice locally” model is ideal for:

  • Hospital Staff: Nurses, physicians, and technicians who need to renew their BLS, ACLS, or PALS course completions around demanding shift schedules.
  • EMS Personnel: Paramedics and EMTs who require flexible training options that fit between calls and station duties.
  • Outpatient and Clinic Providers: Healthcare professionals in private practice or clinics who need to maintain their skills without disrupting patient care hours.
  • Healthcare Students: Medical, nursing, and allied health students who need to complete course requirements before clinical rotations.

The HeartCode® Complete Course Pathway

The American Heart Association® Self-Guided Learning courses for BLS, ACLS, and PALS are offered through the HeartCode® Complete course. It’s crucial to understand that this is a course-based model, distinct from continuous quality improvement programs like Resuscitation Quality Improvement® (RQI®). HeartCode Complete follows the traditional initial and renewal training cycle, culminating in an American Heart Association Course Completion eCard.

The journey to completing your course is straightforward:

  1. Enroll and Begin Online Learning: Start with the online portion of the HeartCode® Complete course for BLS, ACLS, or PALS.
  2. Complete the Cognitive Module: Progress through the self-paced online curriculum.
  3. Schedule Your Skills Session: Book a time at the Safety Training Seminars CPR Verification Station center in Sunnyvale.
  4. Verify Your Skills: Complete the hands-on skills session independently at the station.
  5. Receive Your eCard: Upon successful completion of both components, you will immediately receive your American Heart Association Course Completion eCard.

Step 1: Personalized Online Learning with True Adaptive™ Technology

The online component of the HeartCode Complete course is powered by True Adaptive™ learning technology. This is not a static, one-size-fits-all video lecture. The system uses a sophisticated algorithm to assess your knowledge and confidence in real time.

As you move through the material, the platform presents interactive patient scenarios and questions. Based on your responses, it customizes the learning path. If you demonstrate mastery of a particular topic, you can move through it quickly. If you struggle with a concept, such as specific algorithms or medication dosages, the system provides targeted feedback and additional content to help you close that knowledge gap.

This adaptive approach makes the learning process highly efficient. You spend your time focusing on areas where you need reinforcement, not reviewing information you already know well. The online learning is accessible on any compatible device—desktop, laptop, or tablet—giving you the freedom to study whenever you have a spare moment.

Step 2: Objective Skills Verification at the CPR Verification Station™ Learning Center

After completing the online module, the next step is the self-guided skills session. Our Sunnyvale office at 830 Stewart Dr #133 is equipped with a CPR Verification Station™ learning center, a state-of-the-art manikin and computer system that provides a standardized, objective skills assessment.

This session is entirely self-guided. There is no instructor facilitating the process. You interact directly with the station, which guides you through the required psychomotor skills for your course (BLS, ACLS, or PALS). The system uses simulation technology to provide real-time, audiovisual feedback on your performance.

For example, when practicing CPR, the station will measure the rate and depth of your compressions and the volume of your ventilations. It will provide immediate, objective data, telling you if you need to push harder, faster, or adjust your technique. This removes the subjectivity of human evaluation and ensures your skills meet the precise guidelines set by the American Heart Association.

You can practice and repeat the skills as many times as needed to achieve a passing score. This private, low-pressure environment allows you to focus on perfecting your technique without feeling rushed or judged. The goal is competence, and the station gives you the tools and feedback to get there.

BLS, ACLS, and PALS: Course-Specific Pathways

The Self-Guided Learning model is available for the three core life support disciplines.

HeartCode® Complete BLS

The BLS pathway is designed for all healthcare providers. The online portion covers the fundamentals of single- and two-rescuer CPR for all ages, AED use, and relieving choking. The skills session at the CPR Verification Station center will verify your ability to perform high-quality compressions, use a bag-mask device, and integrate an AED into a rescue scenario.

HeartCode® Complete ACLS

For professionals who respond to cardiopulmonary emergencies, the ACLS course builds on BLS skills. The True Adaptive online learning focuses on advanced topics like rhythm recognition, pharmacology, and managing respiratory and cardiac arrest. The skills session will challenge you to apply these concepts in simulated megacode scenarios, requiring you to lead your team, make critical decisions, and perform necessary interventions.

HeartCode® Complete PALS

The PALS course is essential for those who care for critically ill infants and children. The online module covers the systematic approach to pediatric assessment, respiratory emergencies, and shock management. At the CPR Verification Station center, you will demonstrate your skills in pediatric CPR, advanced airway management, and leading a resuscitation team in various pediatric case scenarios.

The Importance of Correct Terminology: Course Completion vs. Certification

In healthcare, precision in language is vital. The American Heart Association specifies that successful completion of these courses results in a “Course Completion eCard,” not a “certification.” While “CPR certified” is a common phrase, it is technically inaccurate. A professional certification typically involves a much more extensive process governed by a certifying body.

Using the correct terminology—”course completion”—ensures accuracy and aligns with AHA guidelines. When you finish your HeartCode Complete course, you will receive an American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, or PALS Provider eCard, which serves as verification that you have successfully completed the training.
